Statement on Election of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as African Union Chairperson

The United States of America congratulates Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma on her election as the African Union Chairperson. The African Union is the most important multilateral institution on the continent.  The United States of America wishes Minister Dlamini-Zuma success in her new role and looks forward to working closely with her and maintaining our productive relationship with the African Union. The United States of America thanks the former Chairman, Jean Ping, for his contributions to the African Union and wishes him success in his future endeavors.
