August 14, 2008
Pretoria -- Beginning August 14, members of the public planning to travel to the United States may access http://www.usvisa-southafrica.com to schedule appointments for nonimmigrant visa interviews at the U.S. Consulates in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. South Africans can also obtain visa-related information 24 hours per day on the website. To use this internet service, applicants purchase a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for U.S. $10 using a Visa or Mastercard through the website.
Those without internet access may call our telephone service at 011-275-6300 (within South Africa) or 27-11-275-6300 (outside South Africa), Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (except South African holidays). Applicants can purchase a telephone service PIN for 86.00 South African Rand (ZAR) from:
1. Any Pick ‘n Pay branch in cash, or
2. By calling the Live Visa Information Service and paying with a Visa or MasterCard.
Please note that the internet and telephone service PINs are not interchangeable. Applicants may elect to use either one service or the other.
