Media Credentials for President Obama's Town Hall Event

As part of his historic trip to Africa, U.S. President Barack Obama will engage with an invited audience of young African leaders in a pan-African Town Hall event.

The event will take place at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus on Saturday, June 29. It will be Open Press and will also be broadcast live on a free-to-air satellite signal through local and regional broadcasters.

Only accredited media will be allowed to cover the event.

All local, regional, or international media interested in attending must request accreditation through the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria. Interested media must send the following information to OBAMAinSAPressCredentials@state.gov by 17:00 on Monday, June 24. Each individual requesting access must be accredited.

  • MEDIA OUTLET
  • EMAIL ADDRESS
  • CELL PHONE NUMBER
  • PLACE and DATE OF BIRTH
  • ID Document/Passport Number (please attach photocopy)

Unfortunately, due to space limitations we will not be able to confirm attendance for all requests. Specific information on times and logistics will be sent to those who are credentialed.
