On March 28, 2012, Public Affairs Officer Melissa Clegg-Tripp and Academic Exchange Coordinator Jacques Wiese met in the Johannesburg Consulate's Information Resource Center with 20 students interested in M.A., M.B.A. or Ph.D. studies in the United States. They highlighted the Fulbright program, noting that this is the recruitment season, and then walked the students through the near overwhelming choice and flexibility of the U.S. education system, the application process, financial aid resources, and the standardized tests normally required. This is part of a new thematic series we have developed to promote studying in the U.S. On a rolling basis, we offer “The Application Process,” “Finding the Right Fit: Selecting American Colleges and Universities,” and “Financing Your Studies" workshops, as well as a “Standardized Tests” workshop for undergraduates planning to study abroad. Visit http://southafrica.usembassy.gov/educational-advising.html to find out when the next session will be held.
