Consul General Earl R. Miller
Earl R. Miller is the Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Johannesburg. Mr. Miller, a career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, joined the Department of State in 1987. Mr. Miller served in Washington, San Francisco, Miami and Boston and at U.S. embassies in San Salvador (1988 - 1990), Gaborone (1995 - 98), Kuala Lumpur (2000 - 03), Jakarta (2004 - 07), Baghdad (2007 - 08), and New Delhi (2008 - 11). He served temporary tours of duty in Port-au-Prince, Freetown, Maseru, Windhoek, Kinshasa, and Phonm Pehn.
Mr. Miller is the recipient of the Department of State's Award for Heroism and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Shield of Bravery.
Mr. Miller is a graduate of the University of Michigan and a former U.S. Marine Corps officer. He speaks French, Spanish, and Indonesian. He and his wife, Ana, have two teenage sons, Andrew and Alexander.
